Biology of the rocky shore and big environmental questions 

 

Location: Menai Bridge 

Main Areas of Learning: biology, geography, history and oracy

Age: Key Stage 2

(it can be adapted for Secondary school pupils - inquire for more details)

The day will include:

  • Walk to observe the Menai Straits today and to consider how it has changed over time

  • Activities that will promote understanding of the solar system and the effect this has on the tides and the wildlife

  • Study of the wildlife of the rocky shore (seaweed, molluscs, birds and other sea animals) in their habitat 

  • followed by an opportunity for pupils to form their own questions in order to discuss some key modern environmental issues ( such as climate change, sea level rise, plastic waste, sea pollution etc)

Canolfan Thomas Telford , Menai Bridge (opposite Waitrose)

Cost

£200 per day (there is a 10% discount if you book before Easter)

Group size

It is possible to take one primary school class at a time ( up to 30 children)
